The game shoots for you—your job is to move like you’re dancing through bullets and to build upgrades that actually work together. Mr Autofire is a side-scrolling roguelite shooter where survival comes from footwork, pattern reading, and choosing perks that form a coherent build rather than a random pile. Controls Desktop: A/D or Arrow Keys to move, Space/W to jump (double jump if supported), select perks with mouse/keys Mobile: Virtual stick to move, jump button, tap perk cards to choose upgrades What you do - Auto-fire at enemies while you dodge incoming attacks - Clear rooms/waves and face bosses - Level up and choose upgrades between fights - Build a run that survives long enough to finish the stage Movement rhythm: never stand still in a straight line Auto-fire tempts you to freeze. That’s when you get clipped. Better movement: - smooth arcs and short resets - step out, step in - jump only when needed, not constantly Constant jumping can put you into predictable airborne paths. Upgrade logic that wins runs Strong builds usually follow a pattern: - early: survivability (health, shield, damage reduction) - mid: reliable damage (extra projectiles, spread, consistent DPS) - late: scaling bonuses that multiply what you already have If you pick only damage early and die, the run never reaches “big power” anyway. Save abilities for screen pressure If you have a big ability (bomb, special, etc.): - use it when the screen is crowded - or during a boss phase with limited safe space Using it on a nearly cleared wave wastes your escape button. Boss tip: dodge first, damage second Because you fire automatically, you don’t need to “force” damage. On bosses: - prioritize safe positioning - let auto-fire work while you survive patterns Most boss deaths come from greed movement, not lack of DPS. Common mistakes - standing still and eating ranged shots - jumping nonstop and becoming predictable - picking random upgrades with no synergy - using big abilities too early and having none for emergencies Mini drill Do one run where you choose survivability upgrades first for the first few picks. Notice how far you go when you stop dying to small mistakes. FAQ Why do my runs end early? You’re taking avoidable hits. Move in arcs and pick survivability early. What upgrades work best together? Extra projectiles + spread + consistent damage boosts, after you’re stable. How should I fight bosses? Focus on dodging; your gun will handle damage while you stay alive.
